RNTC courses during COVID-19

As countries re-open and offices and academic institutions in the Netherland resume activities*, RNTC Media Training Centre (RNTC) has reviewed its policies and what is needed to adapt and welcome students again. RNTC aims to start in-person trainings from June 2022. RNTC has the facilities and capabilities to ensure a safe learning environment in accordance with the latest Covid-19 regulations from the Dutch government.

*Our information is based on the guidelines issued by the government and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), which is subject to change.

RNTC reserves the right to suspend, modify or cancel any of the measures described in the FAQ accordingly.

All courses in January, February, March and May of 2022 will be conducted online.

We expect to facilitate courses in person again starting in June of 2022. However, we will follow the RIVM guidelines, and in case anything changes with the COVID-19 situation, we reserve the right to change the format to online if necessary.

Most 5 day courses are conducted 100% online. All courses to be held in January, February, March and May of 2022, including 15 day courses, will be conducted 100% online. Starting in June, we expect our 15-day courses and some 5 day courses will be held in-person. You can find a full list of course formats by using the filters on the "Our Courses" page.

We provide high-quality online and e-learning experiences, with plenty of individual support from our expert trainers and interaction with both trainers and fellow course participants. This is not a boring lecture series, but rather an interactive learner-centred training that gets you to produce output along the way, individually, or in groups.

Our online courses are rated very positively, and we have high level learner satisfaction. Participants rate the online courses as a “highly useful” and “impactful” learning experience.

The online format requires full-time participation on training days (4-5 hours a day, 3 days a week) for the duration of the course. The course includes lectures, group and individual projects, self-study time and online coaching.

You will receive detailed information in your confirmation and welcome letter. For any online course you will of course need access to internet, a mobile device / laptop with audio and camera.

The time commitment is variable, but you can expect to spend an average of 6 to 8 hours a day on a course. Our online course requires full participation for the duration of the course.

We use a freely downloadable platform called Zoom for our trainings. You will receive instructions and a Zoom link. In addition you will have access to our online learning academy where you can access all course materials for 6 months from the start of your course.

Before the training, you will be invited to set up an account on our Online Learning Academy during the first sign-in process. Once you have logged in, you can create your profile. Also, you will receive an invitation to a test session to become acquainted with Zoom and our other tools, and meet your trainer and fellow students too.

During the training you will participate in planned Zoom sessions and also have time scheduled for individual and group work.

You will definitely need a quiet place from which you can study and work on course assignments undisturbed.

You will need a strong internet connection in order to successfully participate in this course. If you have occasional connectivity issues, no worries! Sessions are recorded if you miss a session the recording can be made available to you. However, if you expect frequent connectivity issues, you may want to consider waiting until you can participate in a course in-person.

Yes. You must be online during the hours that will be detailed in the course overview you receive after registration. This will include about 4 hours of time on each course day where you must be online at the same time as class members and trainers so that you can participate in discussions and group work. Our sessions are interactive and dynamic. You will also receive individual assignments which you are not required to be online for.

Courses run 3 days a week, with 4 to 5 hours of scheduled course time each day. There may be an additional 3-6 hours each week where you will need to work on individual assignments, but this may vary by course. RNTC suggests that you do not work or schedule meetings on course days.

All RNTC courses from January through May 2022 will be offered online. RNTC follows the guidelines issued by the government and the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), and course formats are subject to change depending on the current health regulations. RNTC reserves the right to suspend, modify or cancel any courses accordingly. In the case that the format of your course changes, you will be informed immediately of your options to either continue with the course in its new format, or withdraw your participation and apply again in the future.
